JoAnneh Nagler
"The World Is My Canvas"

When JoAnneh Nagler paints, she courts a kind of tingling surrender to hues, shapes, and textures as they pass through me. The results, large acrylic paintings on canvas and board, will grace the walls of the Caldwell Gallery from July 1 through Aug. 29.
Nagler has traveled extensively. She comments, One of the greatest gifts Ive been given from traveling is the sense of feeling myself connected to the other side of the earth. Its a sensation of knowing beyond my own time and space, of being moved by places and reminiscences of history and culture which resonate so far beyond anything in my little, goal-oriented American world.
For me, there is nothing like the revelation of a new land I am about to fall in love with. To walk the earth of another country is to see things and sense things anew, and now Im realizing to feel a vibrancy of colors not known at home.
Naglers new contemporary abstract paintings are theme-based studies of color and light from travels in Nepal, Thailand, Egypt, Israel, Italy, Honduras, and South America.
This Renaissance woman is also a freelance writer, singer, and songwriter. Her paintings have been exhibited extensively in galleries and private salons in Southern California. Naglers writing credits include essays, television scripts, and folk songs. |
